Its original name is Abbé Fetel. It is very much appreciated by the Italian consumer and, in our country began to be cultivated for a few years.

Is self-incompatible and with tendency to parthenocarpy. You may receive pollen from Beurré DAnjou, Beurré Hardy and Packhams Triumph. In our area blooms between the 16th and the 20th of September.

The fruit is elongated, with a large predominance of y-axis of the long neck, and large, of about 270 grams of weight, 135 mm high and 65 mm caliber. Your form is spot.

The peduncle is short and thick, straight or slightly curved; the stalk cavity is absent or barely defined and the goblet open. 

The epidermis is fine and lisaalthough with a little russet in the areas close to the calyx and peduncle, light green to yellowish, sometimes with a pink tenuous in the face that is exposed to the sun and with numerous lenticels. 

The pulp it is white, consistentfine textured, juicy and neutral taste.

The origin of the pear Abate Fetel is due to the finding of the prior of the Monastery of Chessny, in the Rhone valley, located in the south of France, in 1866.
